Boise State University is petitioning for an exception to gathering size restrictions to allow more than 1,000 fans in the stands at Friday's home game.
The university is petitioning for an exception to the Ada County orders to allow 1,000 fans in the stands on Nov. 6 against No. 9 BYU, according to a Central District Health Board of Health meeting agenda. The request includes a safety plan to allow students, student-athlete parents, and members of BSU's cheer team and band to attend the game, according to the agenda.
Boise State Athletics initially announced no fans would be allowed in the stands for the shortened season, but BSU will monitor the coronavirus situation in the Treasure Valley throughout the season.
Boise State will host No. 9 BYU on the blue this Friday with kickoff at 7:45 p.m. on Fox Sports One.
