CALDWELL, ID — On Thursday night, the Caldwell Police Department advised the public in a Facebook post to stay away from Berkely Avenue and Fairlight Street as they were conducting a SWAT operation near that location. There was no threat to the public.

At 4:30 p.m. the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force requested the Caldwell Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team to conduct an arrest warrant service.

The Caldwell Police Department says a male, juvenile suspect was suspected of committing several gang-related crimes in both Ada and Payette counties. Caldwell Police say he refused arrest.

The situation was later resolved around 9:30 p.m. Police say they used tear gas as a de-escalation tactic, hoping to get the suspect to surrender himself to law enforcement.

Any questions regarding the arrest warrant(s) or criminal investigation(s) associated with this arrest, should be directed to the Boise and Fruitland Police Departments.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
