After more than a year of construction, a project years in the making is set for its official debut. Indian Creek Plaza, a 57,000 square foot downtown urban square is among the newest developments in Caldwell.
The Plaza is set to be the downtown destination for local food, music, and entertainment. It is a $7.3-million project, making its big premiere next Thursday, and those who have overseen the project, including Keri Smith-Sigman, are really excited for the grand opening, "I'm most excited about seeing 5,000 people out here jammed in, and having a great time.”
Indian Creek Plaza is located in the heart of Downtown Caldwell’s retail district and is equipped with an ice rink for the winter, a stage for concerts and live entertainment, outdoor seating, a splash pad and so much more. The City of Caldwell and Destination Caldwell have high hopes this will be a gathering place for people outside the city as well.
"We wanted to set ourselves apart from other communities, and have that space where people could come together,” says Smith-Sigman.
Most of the residents seem to be on board with the project as well, Bob Carpenter, a long time Caldwell resident says, "If you look at communities, gathering spots make communities.”
The city has big plans for the Plaza’s economic effect as well, saying that it is completely changing the city of Caldwell.
The ribbon cutting for the Plaza is set for Thursday, July 12th, followed by its first big event on Saturday the 14th.
