CALDWELL, Idaho — Today, Canyon County public officials, members of the community and law enforcement officers gathered at the Administration building for a press conference and proclamation dedicating the month of April to "Child Abuse Prevention".
Attendees were asked to wear the color blue to show support and were handed blue and silver pinwheels, symbols for the cause.
A detective, prosecutor, and child abuse survivor made speeches at the meeting and talked about how abuse has affected them in their life.
While there, 6 On Your Side spoke with three siblings who survived abuse at the hands of their mother. The siblings, 15-year-old Rene Olivarez, 14-year-old Anjolina Espinoza, and 6-year-old Anthony Lopez were willing to speak with us about a number of things, 6-year-old Anthony even telling us that the pinwheels made him "happy". You can find their interviews on our Facebook page.
Canyon County will host a Superhero March towards the end of the month to again raise awareness and end child abuse. For more information, click here.
