Nampa Police say a gas leak caused after a car crashed into a home has been stopped and people who had been evacuated have been allowed back in their homes.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on the 200 block of East Amity Ave.  Police say the car crashed into the home near the kitchen and the homeowners reported a possible gas leak.  Officers found a gas line had been damaged and the emergency shut off valve had been broken, preventing them from shutting off the gas.  The homeowners and people in nearby homes were evacuated.

Police tell us the driver of the car, 36-year-old David Valdez and a 28-year-old female passenger were both taken to the hospital and treated for natural gas exposure.  Police tell us the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
