BOISE, Idaho — Buy Idaho, Inc. is encouraging the community to shift their spending and buy local to support the Idaho business community during Buy Idaho Day.
This year's event is set for Saturday, May 9 in an effort to boost revenue for small businesses across the state. Buy Idaho says it's our obligation to invest in our local economy.
For every dollar spent at a local business, 68% of that revenue stays in Idaho. By generating this tax revenue, you directly reinvest in local communities to encourage job creation, diversity in industry, support for neighbors, conservation of energy and transportation resources, and building a uniqueness to attract visitors and new businesses.
Buy Idaho says if every Idahoan spends $100, the day would generate over $9 million in tax revenue for the state.
On May 9, you're asked to seek out local businesses and shift your spending. That includes shopping at local establishments online, over the phone, curbside, or delivery. You can also purchase a gift card or shop your local farmer's market. Donations are also accepted.
