Once folks start gathering for large events in person again, they’ll have a new destination in Downtown Boise.
Idaho Central Arena.
That’s the new name for the former CenturyLink Arena, attached to the Grove Hotel. The 5,000 seat multi-purpose venue, which houses the Idaho Steelheads, picked up the name today. CenturyLink signage remains on the building for now.
“We are excited for our new partnership with Idaho Central Credit Union and look forward to our relationship as they are a great community supporter,” Idaho Steelheads GM Eric Trapp said. “This partnership shows that the Idaho Steelheads and Idaho Central Credit Union are committed to the Treasure Valley and downtown Boise for many years to come.”
“This sponsorship is a way for us to be present and engaged in Downtown Boise,” ICCU CEO Kent Oram said. “We have many members in the Treasure Valley and we love supporting this community.”

This is the second venue in Idaho to get sponsorship rights from ICCU. The Idaho Central Credit Union Arena in Moscow on the campus of the University of Idaho is under construction. The two venues will have similar, but slightly different, names.
This is the fourth name for the Boise building.
CenturyLink assumed sponsorship of the building from Qwest, which it took over in 2011. The building opened in 1998 as the Bank of America Centre.
CenturyLink alsoconfirmed to BoiseDev last week that it would vacate its office space in the One Capital Center Building on Main St. That structure currently has a CenturyLink sign atop it.
ICCU also plans a 16-story building a few blocks away at 4th St. and Idaho St. That building would include a branch and back-office functions, as well as retail, housing and office space.
