Contestants needed for hot pepper eating contest

NAMPA, Idaho — The Nampa Farmers Market is hosting its hot chili pepper eating contest this weekend and there is still time for you to sign up!

Contestants will be lined up and given a succession of hot peppers, starting mild with the jalapeno and serrano. The contest goes all the way up to the habanero, ghost pepper and even hotter if it gets that far.

The winner will take home $250 and a bottle of Tums. Any one who enters will be given a t-shirt and a glass of milk during the contest.

There is a $20 entry fee. You can find more information and sign up here. The contest will start at 11:30 a.m. on September 14.
