Coroner: Washington man dead after being shot, Boise Police investigating

BOISE, Idaho — A Kennewick, Washington man is dead from a gunshot wound and the Ada County Coroners Office says the manner of death was a homicide.

According to a news release from the coroner's office, Gamaliel Nava Garzon, 42, was taken from the La Quinta Inn and Suites on Emerald Street to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center on October 30. Life-saving measures were not successful and Garzon was pronounced dead in the emergency department.

In a news release from Boise Police, Eava June-Mccarthy, age 18, of Nampa was arrested on November 2 by Caldwell Police on an active warrant for 2nd Degree Murder. Boise Police investigators were working with Caldwell Police's Street Crimes Unit and the FBI's Metro Task Force to investigate the homicide.

According to the release, detectives found June-Mccarthy and Garzon knew each other and there was never any danger to the public. June-Mccarthy was originally booked into the Canyon County Jail but has since been transferred to the Ada County Jail.

Boise Police says the investigation is ongoing and there is the potential for more arrested. Investigators are asking any businesses in the area that have not already talked with police and have security video to contact them. Detectives are interested in passing vehicles between 10:30 p.m. on October 29 and 1 a.m. on October 30. The release says they are specifically looking for business owners along the highlighted roads shown on the map below.
