An Idaho Falls couple has been arrested for drug trafficking, after deputies say they found several pounds of marijuana in their car.

According to a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office news release, a deputy made a traffic stop on Sunnyside Rd. near the I-15 exit about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The deputy became suspicious of the man and woman in the car -- later identified as Valerie Murdock, 43 and Brett Murdock, 42, both from Idaho Falls.

A K-9 officer from the Idaho Falls Police Department arrived to help out and was able to use his drug detection dog to sniff around the vehicle. “The dog made indications that illegal drugs were inside the vehicle and, upon a search, about four pounds of marijuana was located in the trunk,” said Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bryan Lovell.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Bonneville County Jail for drug trafficking.
