BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Walk Bike Alliance (IWBA) will hold a "Walk of Silence in Memory of Florence and Bob Goar" and other victims of traffic crashes involving vulnerable road users this evening. The walk will begin at the intersection of Northview and Milwaukee where Florence and Bob Goar were struck by a motorist on February 27. It was one month ago today that the Goars were walking near their Boise home when they were hit by a person driving an SUV. Eighty-seven-year-old Florence died that night, and 89-year old Bob died nine days later.

The IWBA is encouraging everyone who wishes to participate to meet at the corner of W. Northview and Christine Streets (8366 W. Northview Street) in the parking lot between 5:15 pm and 5:30 pm. At 5:30 pm participants will walk in silence for one block and gather at the south-east corner of the intersection in a park at W. Northview and N. Milwaukee Streets adjacent to the Goar crash scene. At 5:45 pm, speakers representing the Idaho Walk Bike Alliance will talk about the need to protect people who are traveling on our roads while walking, rolling, or bicycling.

Family members of pedestrians and cyclists killed in a motor vehicle crashes will also share their stories.
