Evacuation order in effect for Rock Creek Canyon due to the Badger fire

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — An evacuation order is now in effect for Rock Creek Canyon due to the Badger fire, according to Incident Command. There is a shelter at the Eastside Southern Baptist Church in Twin Falls and the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds is available as a large animal evacuation site.

The Badger fire is burning 20 miles southwest of Oakley. It has burned 35,706 acres and two crew, eleven engines, five helicopters and four dozers are working the fire. It started on September 12 and the cause is unknown at this time.

The fire is actively burning to the west with multiple heads to the north and east. There is significant fire spread towards recreational areas and Rock Creek Road.
