Traffic signals to be installed in s. Caldwell

Posted

A teenage driver was taken to the hospital following a two-car accident in south Caldwell on March 16th, 2016.

Caldwell Police says that the teen didn’t stop at a stop sign located at Montana Avenue and Karcher Road resulting a collision.

The intersection has seen a total of six accident since March of 2015 according to the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office which they say is relatively normal.

However, the proximity of two schools in the area has administrators and parents worried about overall safety in the area.

“We have two high schools here with young teenage drivers who may be impatient or just learning to drive. So the recommendation is to put a stop light here for public safety," Russ Dunn of Gem State Academy explained.

However, 6 On Your Side was informed that the Idaho Transportation Department already has plans for a number of new signals to be installed in the area.

A light is expected to be running by fall of 2016 with several others fully functional by 2017.
