SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- A former assistant high school principal in Spokane has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for child molestation.

The Spokesman-Review reports Todd Bender pleaded guilty to two counts of molestation on April 7. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors agreed not to charge Bender for allegedly molesting the same boy in another county.

A Spokane County Superior Court judge sentenced Bender on Friday. He'll also have to register as a sex offender and will be under correctional supervision for three years following his release from prison.

Bender has been in jail since last summer when he violated release conditions by driving by the victim's home.

He apologized to the boy, his family and the school district at the sentencing.
