Beavers causing headache for Garden City

Garden City officials are trying to decide if it’s time to call in Idaho Fish and Game to relocate some busy beavers responsible for knocking down trees into the river and onto the Boise Greenbelt.

To help reduce the amount available trees for the beavers, city workers have been using chicken wire to deter the critters.

"We want to maintain the stability of the bank along the river, so the trees really play an important part of that bank stability. So we keep an eye on the river bank closely through town. And then, of course, there's the aesthetic component, so obviously you don't want a lot of your trees disappearing, “Garden City Mayor John Evans explained.

The city wasn’t aware of the issue until a few concerned citizens called in.
