GARDEN CITY, Idaho — Garden City Police are investigating after a two-year-old's death Monday.

Garden City officers, along with Boise Police, were called around 3:45 p.m. for reports of significant injury to a child. The toddler had been brought to a local health clinic unconscious and not breathing before being transported to Saint Luke's Regional Medical Center by Ada County Paramedics. Emergency room staff attempted to stabilize the child, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Garden City detectives received a search warrant for a residence on East 44th Street. Investigators found the toddler was under the care of the mother's fiance, 31-year-old Aaron Williams, when he sustained the injuries.

"This is a very sad day for our community. This was an unfortunate incident in which a child was injured resulting in the loss of his precious life. Our hearts go out to the child, his mother, and all of the family members," said Garden City Police Chief Rick Allen. "I am proud of the great work our officers and detectives completed. The investigation into this homicide will continue as we are committed to seeking justice for this young toddler."

Williams was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail and will be arraigned on a First Degree Murder charge Tuesday afternoon. Anyone who may have information is asked to call Garden City Police at 208-472-2950 or Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS (2677).
