BOISE, Idaho — A gate is under construction on Table Rock Road at the intersection of Alta Via Court.
The City of Boise, the Idaho Historical Society, the Idaho Department of Lands, homeowners and non-profit organizations worked together to address public safety, traffic and damage to property in the area. Last May, the Idaho Historical Society closed vehicle access to the top of Table Rock as a preliminary step.
The City of Boise and ACHD found a gate is the best option to address impacts to public access and safety. The gate will be operational starting April 2021 and will be open from sunrise to sunset to allow for limited vehicle parking, according to a news release. There is no vehicle access at the top of the mesa.
Visitors can continue to access Table Rock at the two trailheads associated with Table Rock trails – the Old Penitentiary trailhead and the Mesa Trailhead near Warm Springs Golf Course.
