MARSING, Idaho — The Givens family has owned Givens Hot Springs since 1881. They built a building around the hot springs in 1951, and earlier this year, they remodeled the pool.

"It was due for some major renovations," said Nadine Givens. "We have a lot of people that bring their families out here."

Givens Hot Springs is located 20 miles south of Nampa near the Snake River and the Owyhee Mountains. It is one of the closest hot springs to the Treasure Valley with an indoor pool sitting at 100 degrees.

Givens Hot Springs also has a whole lot of history dating back to the Great Basin Tribes. Weary travelers on the Oregon Trail would stop at the hot springs before the Givens family took it over.

“The place was homesteaded by my husband’s great grandparents, and they had miners who were working in Silver City who would come down and take the cure here," said Givens. "You know it is pretty neat."

The cost of admission is less than $10 and the hot springs are open everyday from noon to 9:00 p.m. although they will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
