IDAHO — The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), which includes Northwest Nazarene University, approved the conferences plan for playing fall sports in spring 2021.

Women's soccer, men's soccer, and volleyball will all be played in the spring, and the schedules will be released in the coming weeks.

GNAC also voted to delay the start of winter sports, including men's basketball, women's basketball, and indoor and outdoor track.

No competitions will be held before Thurs., Jan. 7.

In a statement released, the board will continue to review the timeline over the coming months.

"The delay allows teams to better follow the guidelines set forth by local and state health authorities as well as evaluate the guidelines set forth in the NCAA’s Core Principles of the Resocialization of Collegiate Basketball, which was released last week," the GNAC's statement read.

The board also approved the cancellation of the 2021 GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

"The decision comes as the meet’s longtime home, the Jackson’s Indoor Center at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, is no longer serving as a track and field venue. Other championship-caliber facilities within the GNAC footprint were unavailable," the GNAC's statement read.
