The God & Country Festival of the Treasure Valley festival kicks off in Nampa today. It will feature fireworks, Christian bands, military appreciation, civic awards, food and fellowship.
It will feature singer Danny Gokey, who placed 3rd in American Idol Season 8, evangelist Andrew Palau, and a BMX/motorbike extreme sports exhibition.
Military families will gather to celebrate their lives and remember those who have fallen in a spirit of community.
The festival has special meaning for Jacob Tucker, a Marine and Purple Heart recipient. On the day he was shot in the shoulder while on deployment overseas, his family attended the God & Country Festival of the Treasure Valley, and found community and support in their time of distress.
"It's important now, to be here and be with other family members who are serving, or along side others who served along with me, or after me," he said. "It's a celebration and a time of remembrance and a time to be thankful. It's important to have in our communities."
