The latest pearl in the string of Boise parks will open on Wednesday.
A grand opening and dedication for Esther Simplot park is scheduled for Nov. 2 at 1:15 p.m. The public is encouraged to arrive at 1 p.m.
The 55-acre site sits along Whitewater Park Boulevard. Nearly half the park is filled with ponds, short waterways and wetlands.
"It [parks and the outdoors] really is part of who we are," says Mike Journee, the communications director for the Boise mayor's office. "It's part of why people move businesses here, it's part of why people move here to have careers and raise their families."
The park features a large playground and is crossed by boardwalks and a section of the Boise greenbelt.
Good news for dog lovers, Esther Simplot park will allow them to be off their leash through late March of 2017 to help control the goose population.
