Greenspeed Research hopes to race in Baja 1000 with a Biodiesel dune buggy

A Garden City non-profit who built the world's fastest vegetable oil powered truck has expanded their facility and is racing towards another goal.

Greenspeed Research aims to help k trough 12 students learn about renewable energy in the STEM fields. They hope to add classes to their expanded facility and let students get a first-hand experience on machinery equipment. They are also gearing up to race a biodiesel powered dune buggy at the Baja1000.

"We've proven that without a shadow of a doubt that you don't lose performance by using a renewable energy source. With this program, we are going to prove that you are not going to lose endurance and reliability by going for a thousand-mile endurance race," said Dave Schenker of Greenspeed Research.

They're still looking to find a professional driver. The Baja 1000 starts in November.
