Heavy snowfall causes major outage in McCall

Idaho Power is working to resolve major outage in McCall area caused by the heavy snow over the past several days.

At 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 20, one of two transmission lines serving the region lost power, impacting about 10,000 customers in McCall-Donnelly, Cascade, Lake Fork and surrounding areas. The second line was already out of service.

Idaho Power reported that its crews were patrolling both lines to find the location of the damage.

Heavy snowfall has resulted in multiple outages in the area, often caused by trees or large branches falling across power lines since Thursday. Several inches of new snow has made working in rugged areas more difficult.
