BOISE, Idaho — Temperature-controlled cubbies for dogs made their debut at Albertsons Thursday. DogSpot, a product that provides locked habitats for shoppers' furry friends, can now be found at two Treasure Valley locations.

Albertsons staff and shoppers celebrated the pet sanctuaries at their Fairview Market Street and Broadway locations. The idea is to give shoppers a place to put their dogs that might otherwise be left in the car or at home.

At thirty cents a minute, one father-daughter pair brought their furry friend along to try the DogSpot for the first time.

"I feel pretty confident that he's gonna be alright in there," said Shane Six.

"It's a really good outlet for animals, especially when it's getting hot out, and not leaving them in the car, and especially-- even with the windows down-- you never know if someone's gonna see it and take it," said Amaya Six.

DogSpot has an app that allows users to watch their dog through a webcam while they shop. The app also allows for temperature adjustment.

The houses are locked when occupied. They are air conditioned during the summer, and have heating pads for the winter.

While only currently at the Market Street location in Meridian and Broadway in Boise, a rep for Albertsons sayssaid, if all goes well, they may install DogSpot in additional locations in the future.
