Home Run Mission honors veterans in Caldwell

On 9/11, a somber day, W.W.I.I veterans were among those honored at a ceremony in Caldwell at the Idaho Veterans Garden Sunday.

The founder of the Home Run Mission program, Dave Challe, has teamed up with the Idaho Veterans Garden.

Together, group leaders want to make sure veterans know they're appreciated and that they have a support network to lean on.

Normally, members of the Home Run Mission group visit vets in nursing homes and care facilities.

Challe says it was a beautiful day to be outside and to spread their message.

"The connection is important because we want these guys to understand there's a place to go, a place to heal, there's a place to plant a seed and start new life," Challe said. "And, we're going to branch out some more and try to get these guys some help."

Over 500 veterans in the Treasure Valley have been recognized through the Home Run Mission program.
