BOISE, Idaho — People pack local gyms in the first week of the new year looking for ways to get back in shape while losing some of those pounds picked up over the holidays.
But how do you stay motivated to continue that workout plan as we move through January?
"There are studies that say after six weeks a lot of people stop because they don't feel like they are reaching their fitness goal," said Sean Festag the fitness manager at Crunch Fitness in Boise.
Festag recommends training for something specific like a Spartan Race, a triathlon or one of the dozens of races the Treasure Valley hosts every year because that provides people with a target date.
If you find you need a little extra motivation a personal trainer like Festag is another way to achieve your goal because a trainer holds people accountable to thier fitness goals.
"I love the intensity, I can push myself to 90 percent but when you have that trainer standing by you are not going to quit that easily," said Festag. "It's that ten percent that makes those big changes."
Crunch Fitness also holds fitness competitions and they use technology, the Fit 3D body scanners provide data so people can measure their results.
