CALDWELL, Idaho — President Trump's head of Housing and Urban Development says Idaho has a big answer to the housing crisis in this country.

Dr. Ben Carson visited Caldwell company IndieDwell and called its shipping container homes a game changer. "I thought it might be someone just painting a shipping container, but it's not," said Carson, " This is completely different. This is transformative."

Congress is out, so this was the perfect time for Idaho's congressional delegation to bring an important guest home. And IndieDwell was thrilled to play host.

"This is a dream come true." says IndieDwell CEO, Scott Flynn. "We can put this incredible product on the market and solve a huge problem we have."

Flynn didn't mention if the visit by Carson would parlay into increased business but IndieDwell has already been in the spotlight after sending a unit to the HUD housing showcase in DC in June.

"That's what we're building, healthy durable sustainable and energy efficient homes at affordable prices to serve the massive housing crisis that has hit our country today." says Flynn.

Carson says it's critical because home ownership is the central investment for most Americans today. He adds that the net worth of the average renter is five thousand dollars. The average homeowner net worth is 200 thousand.
