THE IDAHO BOTANICAL GARDEN (IBG) IS PARTNERING WITH IDAHO ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN (IDAEYC) TO CELEBRATE THE WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD THIS WEEK. — The Idaho Botanical Garden (IBG) is partnering with Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children (IDAEYC) to celebrate the Week of the Young Child this week.

"Each April we look forward to watching the Garden come to life and welcoming hundreds of families to the Garden in celebration of our youngest Idahoans.” Says IBG Executive Director Erin Anderson of Idaho Botanical Garden. “ Our partnerships with organizations like the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children and our connection to our community is more important now than ever. And while we have made the decision to postpone the Young Child Celebration Event to the Fall, we welcome you to join us for a virtual celebration of the Week of the Young Child.“

The Young Child Celebration is a free event that focuses on connecting families with quality community resources, such as summer camps, after-school programs, early literacy information, healthy eating tips and child care. The virtual event will follow the national Week of the Young Child, April 13 to 17, which spotlights young children, early learning, teachers, families and communities.

“We understand the circumstances are different for every family during the COVID-19 crisis” says IBG Event Operations Manager Gillian Bovard,” We have focused on providing a variety of activities you can utilize each day during this week and after. You can look forward to new activities being posted on the IDAEYC and IBG Facebook Pages each day at 10 am.”

Here is a weekly schedule of activities available to children:

MUSIC MONDAY featuring a bedtime story read by a special guest at 7pm.

WORK TOGETHER WEDNESDAY

Stay connected while maintaining distance. The Garden challenges you to write a letter thanking an essential worker for doing what they can to keep us safe during the COVID-19 crisis. Use one of the templates to thank a gardener or tell your teacher you miss them! Maybe consider drafting your own letter to a nurse or Mayor Mclean.
