OROFINO, Idaho — Idaho Fish and Game is investigating after a bull elk was shot and left to waster earlier this month near Orofino.
Officials say a landowner called after hearing a gunshot off of Harmony Heights Loop Road around 9 p.m. on October 1. The next morning, a wounded bull elk was found in a field.
Idaho Fish and Game says the elk had been shot with a rifle. Open hunting season is currently not open for elk in that area.
