Idaho GOP convention to take place in Nampa

Posted

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Idaho Republican leaders will gather in Nampa next week for the Idaho GOP convention.

Republican leaders are hoping to focus on uniting the state's predominant political party after coming out of a divisive primary election.

Typically the party uses the three-day meeting to elect state leaders and approve new platforms and rules. Party Chairman Steve Yates is up for re-election, but so far he faces little competition.

Two years ago, the state GOP convention ended in chaos after Republican infighting prevented delegates from accomplishing anything.

This year's convention will take place in Nampa and be held June 2-4.
