Idaho’s population is growing faster than the national average.

Between mid-2014 and mid-2015, Idaho’s population grew by 1.2% which ranked 12th among the nation and is 4/10ths of a percentage point ahead of the national growth rate.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that Idaho’s population is 1,654,930 as of July 1st, 2015.

The growth can be attributed to a high birth rate and domestic migration which accounts for 75% of Idaho’s population increase.

More than 9,000 people moved into Idaho from other states and countries between mid-2014 and mid-2015.

North Dakota still continues to be the fastest growing state in the nation with a 2.3% population increase followed by Colorado, District of Columbia, Nevada, Florida, Texas and Utah.
