Idaho State trooper injured in accident while escorting U.S. Christmas tree

An Idaho State Trooper was injured in a head-on crash while escorting  the U.S. National Christmas tree this afternoon.

The crash happened as the motorcade made its way down Idaho 55, around 12:19 p.m. on Sunday.

Trooper Brandalyn Crapo was taken by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus hospital in Boise with minor injuries and is expected to be ok.

According to a press release by Idaho State Police, Crapo was hit by a Dodge truck when Michael Shields, 49, of Boise, crossed over the center line near milepost 77 between Horseshoe Bend and Banks.

Shields was evaluated on scene for injuries, his injuries are unknown at this time.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Boise County Sheriff's Office.
