Idaho unemployment claims continue to drop, decline for 22nd consecutive week

Unemployment claims in Idaho continue to fall, decreasing for the 22nd consecutive week.

The Idaho Department of Labor reports continued unemployment claims dropped 8% the past week to 9,144 for the 22nd consecutive week of declines. The four-week moving average of continued claims also dropped, decreasing by 9% from 11,284 for the week ending in Sept. 26 to 10,314 for the week ending in Oct. 3, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.

Initial unemployment claims decreased slightly, totaling 2,955 claims for the week ending in Oct. 3, a decrease of 40 claims. The four-week rolling average of is down 6% to 3,265, according to the IDL.

The department reports the total benefit payments to laid-off Idahoans due to COVID-19 now equals $883.1 million.
