TREASURE VALLEY, Idaho — Many Idahoans went out of their way to clean up trash in the Boise River on Saturday.

Volunteers met at various cleanup locations in Eagle, Star and Caldwell, among other areas, for the "Make it Pretty" Boise River cleanup event.

"We're excited to be able to safely hold our event. Everyone loves getting rid of the trash that accumulates along the Boise River, and there's been an increase with all the stay-close-to-home use the river's been getting," said Liz Paul, event coordinator.

The event was sponsored by Boise River Enhancement Network and Odell Brewing.

Odell Brewing, based in Fort Collins, Colorado, is sponsoring river cleanups in 15 states during the next three months.

"Odell Brewing understands how important clean water is for community health and for great beer. We're proud to be supporting non-profit partners like the Boise River Enhancement Network who preserve and maintain local rivers and waterways," said Derek Struble of Odell Brewing.

Boise River Enhancement hopes to hold more cleanup events throughout the Summer, as most trash accumulates in the Summer and Fall seasons.
