A man incarcerated under the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) jurisdiction has died after being hospitalized with COVID-19. IDOC says in a news release the man was taken from Saguaro Correctional Center to Banner Casa Grande Medical Center on October 1 for treatment of coronavirus-like symptoms.
Shortly after being admitted to the medical center, the man was diagnosed with coronavirus. He was declared dead by a physician at the medical center on October 17 at 8:18 p.m.
The man was one of 438 men under IDOC jurisdiction who are incarcerated in Arizona due to a shortage of beds in Idaho. IDOC says he was the third person incarcerated to die after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
