MERIDIAN, Idaho — Idaho-based Jacksons Food Stores announced Friday that it will purchase gift cards to be used at local restaurants -- to support the businesses hard hit the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Jacksons will give the gift cards to all store employees in Idaho, and to all administrative staff that support the stores, to recognize their efforts during this challenging time,” according to a company news release.

Each employee will receive two $20 gift cards to purchase meals at these local restaurants:

· Gino’s Italian Ristorante

· The Original Sunrise Café

· Jalapeno’s Bar and Grill

· The Garage Café

· Amano

· Brewsky’s Broiler

· CACi Wood-Fired Grill

· Indian Creek Steakhouse

· Smoky Mountain Pizzeria Grill

· Homedale Bowling Alley

· Keystone Pizza

· The Griddle

In addition, Jacksons will be providing five-dollar coupons for those same, local restaurants to customers who fill up with ten gallons of gas or more.

Details are available at Treasure Valley area Jacksons stores, as well as all ExtraMile by Jacksons locations. Both programs run through April 20th.

“We’ve always been a part of the communities we serve, and we’re doing what we can to support local restaurants and fellow business owners who are struggling with the economic devastation of this crisis,” said company president Cory Jackson. “This provides immediate cash flow and customers for these independent businesses, which is probably what they need most right now.”

“This is also a way to say ‘Thanks!’ to our employees. Our food stores provide an all-hours option for people in many communities to obtain the basic necessities, and our people have done an absolutely fantastic job in rising to the occasion of serving our customers during this crisis, from the front lines of the retail stores to the employees who are providing administrative support.” He added.

"We feel so thankful to live in a community with so many caring people, a community where companies like Jacksons Food Stores step in and step up to support others during these unprecedented times. We are very grateful for this generous act of hospitality," said Gino Vuolo, owner of Gino’s Italian Ristorante in Meridian.

Since John D. Jackson founded Jacksons back in 1975 as a single service station, the Idaho-headquartered company has grown to be a nationally recognized chain of more than 260 company-operated convenience stores in six states.
