A 24-year-old woman accused of beating her roommate to death at a Nampa halfway house has been found mentally competent for trial.
The Idaho Press-Tribune reports Idaho Magistrate Judge John Meienhofer ordered Wednesday that Kayla Teton be transported back to the Canyon County Jail.
Teton had been in the custody of the Idaho Department of Corrections after a state mental hospital declined to take her because officials believed she was too violent. Teton has been declared mentally unfit for trial twice.
Teton is charged with first-degree murder in the October death of 52-year-old Linda Westmoreland.
Police say Teton used a metal bar out of a bathroom to beat the woman.
Teton is scheduled for another court appearance Oct. 5.
