IDAHO — If you are looking to end 2020 with a bang, now is your chance. Idaho has three major fireworks retailers selling all types of fireworks right now, and business is booming!

"It's been a strange year, and people want to say goodbye to 2020, and fireworks are a great way to do it," said John Palomarez, John's Discount Fireworks.

That is why John's business is planning on a hectic two-day window before New Year's Eve.

"Sell as much as we can and see if we can sell it all," said Palomarez.

And they are lucky. John's Discount Fireworks got a rare truckload of Red Rhino Fireworks, one of the nation's largest distributors. Red Rhino says their warehouse is now bare.

"People are buying anything and everything we got," said Steve Houser, president of Red Rhino Fireworks. "People are saying I never opened up on New Year's, and I opened up this year, and wow! it's been crazy."

Houser says almost all retail fireworks come from China and with COVID-19 and a tariff war, hardly and ships have delivered fireworks this year. The last one to come across hit a storm.

"2020 being 2020, it swamped with the storm, and most of the fireworks went into the water."

So, if you want to kick 2020 to the curb with a bang, you better move fast because the fireworks are not expected to last.

John's Discount Fireworks is getting up shop at the intersection of Highway 20/26 and Farmview Road. They can sell until midnight on New Year's Eve.
