Several local groups are seeing a big financial boost after a donation from one dealership.

Four Larry H. Miller dealerships pitched in $10,000 each to the Discovery Center of Idaho, the Reuseum, and the Children's Home Society Tuesday for a total of $30,000.

The Discovery Center plans to use the money for a STEM field trip program for needs-based schools. The program annually supports more than 225 field trips for 11,000 participants. The $10,000 donation will allow more than 1,100 students to participate in the field trips.

The Reuseum's grant will go towards news computers and specialized software to provide children with STEM-based workshops.

"We just love giving back and being a part of the community and helping non-profits that directly serve our community," said Jennifer Friedrich, the head chair for Larry H. Miller charities.

The grant to the Children's Home Society will allow the group to provide 500 counseling sessions for children in the area. The Children's Home Society of Idaho provides mental, emotional and behavioral healthcare to an average of 90 children every day.
