Law firm offering pro bono legal advice for small businesses during COVID

BOISE, Idaho — Smith + Malek law firm is offering pro bono virtual legal sessions for small businesses suffering from COVID-19.

The law firm teamed up with Lawyers for Good Government, a nonprofit network of over 125,000 legal advocates across the country.

“They get set up with a consultation with an attorney who is well versed in legal issues that are tired up with the COVID-19 situation and pandemic,” Co-owner of Smith + Malek, Tara Malek says.

Smith + Malek will hold 45-minute long video meetings to help small business owners and nonprofits in Idaho. They want to help them navigate the COVID-19 economic crisis make them aware of different relief programs.

A couple of the legal advice topics Smith + Malek can help with are how to pay vendors and rental/lease agreements.

“All of those issues are ones that we can help address in addition to helping them navigate what resources are available,” Malek says.
