BOISE, Idaho — The coronavirus has been deadly in Washington state and now it is impacting one long-planned fundraiser. Fire departments across the Treasure Valley planned on sending crew members to Seattle this weekend to compete in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) annual stairclimb fundraiser.
The stairclimb is being postponed because of the coronavirus. Now, the Boise Fire Department is now holding their own stairclimb at Camel's Back Park.
"So the event is postponed on Sunday, but that doesn't mean that cancer and blood cancer has gotten postponed," said Richard Brown, Boise Fire Department. "It's really important for us to continue to fundraise for the LLS."
The firefighters hill climb begins at 11 Sunday morning. There is no word yet on when the Seattle stairclimb will be rescheduled.
