State Highway 21 closed due to high avalanche risk

SH-21 was reopened from Grandjean to Banner Summit on Thursday, but was quickly shut back down by Friday morning

BOISE COUNTY, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department closed State Highway 21 from Grandjean to Banner Summit on Friday, Feb. 14 due to rising avalanche risk. The road has already been closed multiple times this season.

Motorists needing to use the roadway will have to use an alternate route. There is no estimated timeline for when the highway will reopen, but ITD is regularly reevaluating conditions.
