UPDATE (Sept. 27 11:30 a.m.): The Bureau of Land Management confirmed that the Three Point Fire near Lucky Peak has been fully contained.
Idaho Fish and Game determined that the fire originated from flames from recreationists in the area burning toilet paper. It is not the first time that burning toilet paper has led to a wildfire in Idaho — in 2015, a mountain biker burned 73 acres of the foothills after doing the same thing.
Fish and Game is asking all recreationists to be mindful of their surroundings and to be careful when burning anything — including toilet paper.
UPDATE (Sept. 23 7:50 a.m.): The fire has been mapped at 762 acres and fire progression has been stopped. Fire crews worked through the night to reinforce containment lines and mop-up hotspots. Crews are expecting to have control of the fire by 6 p.m. tonight.
UPDATE (Sept. 22 3:45 p.m.): The Three Point Fire, burning 6 miles southeast of Lucky Peak Reservoir, is now 400 acres in size. The Bureau of Land Management says crews are constructing a dozerline and holding the fire at Blacks Creek road.
UPDATE (Sept. 22, 2:10 p.m.): The Three Point Fire is now over 150 acres in size. No structures are threatened.
BLM Idaho Fire says crews are working to stop forward progress of the fire, and the cause remains under investigation.
BLM adds the fire is impacting Blacks Creek Road, and asks people avoid the area if possible.
