NAMPA, Idaho — PerforMix Nutrition Systems, an Agri Beef subsidiary, has been providing cattle ranchers and dairy farmers across the country with nutritional supplement options since 1985.
President Mitchell Anderson tells Idaho News 6 that, "animals need calories like me, and you do." However, animals don't always get what they need when they need it, and that's where PerforMix steps in, "we understand what we can grow through photosynthesis and plant development on a farm. We analyze those plants and find out what nutrients they might be lacking or what the animals' requirements are. Then we supplement alongside forges that are on a farm to get the right nutrient levels into the animals at different stages of life."
Anderson says that like anything else, a high-quality nutritional supplement produces a healthy, high-quality cow, which provides high-quality by-products like meat and dairy. Which at the end of the day, Anderson says, "is our end goal."
The Nampa business has three additional manufacturing locations. Two can be found right here in Idaho and the other in Washington State. Multiple sites have helped this company reach more clients in states like California, Montana, Texas, Kansas, Washington, Nevada, Utah, and Eastern Wyoming produce more products without overwhelming a single location.
In 2015, PerforMix expanded into Rupert after their Nampa location was operating at maximum capacity. The plant was producing up to 80,000 tons of product.
Anderson says to him; this business is more than just a job; it's a way of life, and as someone who has worked in animal agriculture almost their entire life, "I just enjoy people in the industry."
