#MADEINIDAHO: Family's freezer jam recipe becomes small business

BOISE, Idaho — You can find jam at any grocery store, but you can't find "freezer jam" at least that's what Kimberly Nuffer, owner of Boise Berry Co says. With freezer jam missing from the grocery store, Kimberly saw a demand she knew she could supply.

Just over a year ago, Nuffer started her company "Boise Berry Co." selling freezer jam. Her strawberry and raspberry flavor is an original recipe passed down within her family. Her recipes, like peach cobbler, piña colada, and blueberry vanilla, are her originals.

If you're unfamiliar with freezer jam, Kimberly says it's jam without all the preservatives. Without those in a jar of jam, they are not "shelf-stable" and must be stored in a freezer to stay fresh.

Making freezer jam isn't Kimberly's only job, she's also a mother to five kids, "it's a lot of work, but I enjoy it, and the kids enjoy it. It's a fun thing for us".

Currently, Kimberly is working on expanding her business by moving into a commercial kitchen. You can find Boise Berry Co. jams at places like the Green Apple Boutique in Meridian or online here.
