BOISE, Idaho — April's First Thursday event in Downtown Boise was done virtually, and this month's event features a mix of online and in-person shopping.

Many stores closed because of stay-at-home orders. Now that stores are beginning to open under new protocols, May's First Thursday event is becoming a hybrid of sorts.

Stores that are staying closed for now will offer items online or through curbside pickup. Others that have opened are allowing customers inside, as long as they follow social distancing guidelines.

The Downtown Boise Association is also using the event to once again support Idaho Gives. This year's campaign lasts two weeks in response to a major need caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The final day for Idaho Gives falls on May 7, and the community is invited to support local businesses and local nonprofits by making online or over-the-phone purchases.

First Thursday will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on May 7. Share how you support businesses tonight on Facebook and Instagram to be entered to win a $25 Downtown Boise gift card.
