BOISE, Idaho — The holidays tend to bring out the best in people with toys, food, clothes and even money donated to help those in need. Simple things can bring great comfort to those living without a home, and nothing says comfort like a warm pair of brand new socks.

Hometown sporting goods store MCU Sports delivered more than 1,000 pairs of socks to the women and children at City Light Shelter Monday. The donation will go a long way to help their mission.

"I was surprised how excited people got when they heard about it. They would actually go back and buy more socks so they could donate socks," said MCU Sports co-owner Danny Tommack. "We had a lot of people that actually donated both give their pair and get their pair, and we actually had people come in with socks that they purchased at other places that would donate socks for as well."

The City Light Home for Women and Children provides safe shelter, meals and programs for 100 women and children per night.
