Medication disposal kiosks open at local Walgreens stores

Posted

There is another tool in the fight against the opioid crisis here in Idaho. Eight Walgreens stores across the state now have medication disposal kiosks, enabling you to get rid of old prescriptions without having those medicines sit in your medicine cabinet, easily reachable to family or friends who may want to access them because of addiction. It's a safe way to get rid of unwanted or expired prescriptions, including highly addictive opioids.

"For those of us who have pain medication, don't let it sit on your shelves, don't let it sit in your cupboards, don't let it sit in your closet, but instead find a kiosk and return it here," said United States Attorney Bart Davis. "Hopefully that will help us to curb that abuse."

Walgreens partnered with Regence Blue Shield of Idaho to provide the kiosks. You can find them at the Walgreens in Boise on Fairview and in Nampa on 12th Ave.
