Boise State women's soccer team is arguably having one of it's best seasons yet. The team is currently 8-2 this year and 2-0 in conference play. Together the soccer team has their eye on one prize, winning the Mountain West Conference.
While the program is busy making history, so is one of their leading ladies. Raimee Sherle is a junior center forward who recently broke a Boise State soccer record and set a new one. Before her Sunday game against UNLV, Sherle was just one goal away from breaking BSU's 36 career goal record. But breaking a record wasn't enough, Raimee set the bar just a tad higher when she scored a hat trick making the new record to date 37 goals.
Meeting Raimee you'd have no idea that this peanut butter and jelly loving student-athlete is a force to be reckoned with on the field. While this "average gal" is busy collecting titles and breaking records, Raimee is a true team player that avoids making goals for the game about herself, "not winning anything individual just team-wise win the mountain west and I’m still working towards that goal" and with everything she's accomplished she'll tell you there's one thing she's most proud of, " the growth I've seen with my current class".
While her time as a Boise State soccer player is moving quickly, she urges her teammates to remember one thing, "this is kind of the peak of our lives I think being college athletes, we’re very blessed to be here not many girls get to the Division I level".
Raimee and her team are scheduled to play a home game against Colorado State Friday September 28th and 4 p.m. For more on Raimee's stats and Boise State Soccer's records click here.
