MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Meridian Police Employee Association (MPEA) is hosting a school supply drive to help the community prepare for the upcoming semester. MPEA is made up of Meridian Police Department employees and is a 501c3 organization. The group focuses on outreach around the Meridian community while supporting first responders statewide.
The drive will run from July 20 through August 14 and all supplies donated will benefit Meridian youth in need.
“COVID-19 adds another set of challenges for Meridian families as they prepare for this next school year,” said MPEA Vice-President Sergeant Gonzales, “There are a lot of additional considerations for Meridian families and our School Resource Officers want to be a resource, providing free school supplies to kids within their schools as needed.”
Supplies can be dropped off at the Meridian Police Department and Meridian City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be designated bins in the lobby of both locations for donations. Monetary donations can also be accepted at the Meridian Police Department and through PayPal using the email address mpeaidaho@gmail.com. MPEA asks that you note within PayPal that the donation is for MPEA's School Supply Drive.
“Our goal with this school supply drive is to help those in need,” said MPEA President Corporal Wilson, “We know these are difficult times for everyone, hopefully providing school supplies will lessen the burden on the families we serve.”
